Betwyll is the first Italian startup to be selected by xEdu, the leading European accelerator for EdTech startups. In the next few months we’ll start a development path in Northern Europe in search for investors.
xEdu, the leading European accelerator for EdTech startups, selected Betwyll as the first Italian startup to join their program. Until June we’ll be part of an international development path with other 8 companies from all over the world.
So far, Helsinki-based xEdu has accelerated 56 startups from 11 countries, which collected risk capital for over 10 million euros.
Betwyll has developed a methodology and an app for social reading in Italy targeting schools, universities, libraries and book clubs. Its team will be in Finland until June to develop its activities in Northern Europe and search for investment opportunities.
Betwyll is currently available as a minimum viable product on Android and iOS. The app allows communities to read and comment on texts following shared reading calendars. Users can publish short messages (twylls), interact with other readers and dialogue with the authors and the book characters.
So far, we have involved over 300 schools in Italy and 11 universities worldwide. And in 2018 we also launched some pilots in Scandinavia, together with Netport Science Park in Karlshamn. In 2016 the European Commission acknowledged our method as a good practice to promote online reading. Whereas in 2017 Betwyll was shortlisted among the 12 world semifinalists of the Creative Business Cup in Copenhagen. Joining xEdu Helsinki therefore represents a further step in our international positioning.
All these development activities abroad intertwine with our growth plan in Italy, where our partnership with Pearson is at the core of our work for public schools.
